USB Host Shield for Arduino
The USB Host Shield is an expansion board designed to add USB Host functionality to Arduino and other compatible microcontroller platforms. It allows a microcontroller to communicate directly with USB peripherals that would normally be connected to a computer.
The shield is based on the MAX3421E USB peripheral/host controller and communicates with the host microcontroller through the SPI interface. This provides a practical way to connect USB devices such as keyboards, mice, game controllers, barcode scanners, USB-to-serial adapters and other supported peripherals to an embedded system.
Designed in a shield form factor, the board can be mounted directly onto compatible Arduino boards, providing convenient access to USB Host capabilities without requiring a custom USB interface circuit.
The USB Host Shield is suitable for robotics, automation, human-machine interfaces, embedded USB projects, data acquisition and other applications where a microcontroller needs to interact with USB peripherals.
